Do not miss this opportunity to experience a one-of-a-kind outdoor culinary experience featuring Barbara Fenzl, owner of Les Gourmettes Cooking School. This program begins with a guided walk led by naturalist Eric Garton along the Plants and People of the Sonoran Desert Trail, discussing the important food sources that have sustained desert dwellers for centuries. Following the walk, participants will enjoy a private cooking demonstration and tasting in a beautiful desert setting. Many of the food sources seen along the trail will be prepared in contemporary original recipes by Barbara Fenzl, including pads and fruit of the prickly pear cactus, pods of the mesquite tree, as well as several native food crops. Recipes will include Jicama, Orange and Nopalitos Salad, Tepary Bean Dip with Crudities, and Plum, Prickly Pear and Mesquite Crumble. Limit 20.
